Full excavation, compacted aggregate base, edge restraint, and polymeric joint sand. Built to drain away from the house, not toward it.
Retaining Walls
Block, boulder, or timber walls engineered for the load they're actually holding — with drainage tile and backfill behind them, where it matters most.
Walkways & Steps
Paths and stone steps sized for comfortable stride and built on the same base spec as a patio, so they don't shift or tip over time.

Built-in or freestanding fire pits, seating walls, and stone features designed as part of the space rather than dropped in afterward.
Drainage Built In
Grading, drain tile, and surface runoff planned before the first paver goes down. Water is what destroys hardscape — we plan for it up front.

Sunken pavers, leaning walls, and failed edges. Sometimes it's a repair, sometimes a rebuild — we'll tell you honestly which one you need.
Most Patio Failures Have Nothing to Do With the Pavers.
When a patio sinks, heaves, or opens up at the joints, the pavers are almost never the problem. What failed is underneath — not enough excavation, base aggregate that was never compacted in lifts, or no edge restraint holding the field together.
It's the cheapest place to cut a corner and the most expensive one to fix, because correcting it means pulling up everything on top. In our climate, frost finds that shortcut within a season or two.

We measure the space, check how water moves across it, talk through materials and layout, and put together a written, itemized quote — usually within one business day.
Excavate & Build the Base
Utilities located, area excavated to depth, aggregate placed and compacted in lifts. This is the part nobody sees and the part that decides how long it lasts.
Lay, Lock & Finish
Pavers or stone set, edge restraint installed, joints sanded and compacted. Site cleaned, and you walk the finished work with us before we call it done.

It depends on square footage, material choice, how much excavation the grade needs, and site access for equipment. Every patio is quoted in person with a written, itemized price — including base depth — before any work starts. The price we quote is the price you pay.
A typical residential patio runs a few days to about a week depending on size, access, and weather. Retaining walls vary more, since drainage and backfill add time. You'll get a realistic window in writing with your estimate.
Not if the base is right. Settling and heaving almost always trace back to insufficient excavation, a base that wasn't compacted in lifts, or missing edge restraint. We spec all three in the estimate so you can see exactly what's going in underneath.
Patios usually don't, but retaining walls above a certain height often do, and requirements vary by municipality. We'll tell you what your project needs and handle the permitting where it applies.
Often, yes. Sunken sections, failed edges, and washed-out joints can frequently be lifted, re-based, and reset. If the original base was never built properly, a rebuild is the honest answer — and we'll say so rather than sell you a repair that fails again.
Drainage gets designed into the project rather than dealt with afterward. Grading, drain tile, and runoff paths are planned before anything is installed, because water is the single biggest cause of hardscape failure in this climate.
